Guidelines for Preparation of Articles

Manuscript

Manuscripts must be typed on A4 paper, double line spacing using Times New Roman with font size 12. The entire article should not exceed 12 pages. The text should be in the following order: Title, Author’s names, Affiliation, Abstract, Introduction, Materials and Methods, Results and Discussion, Acknowledgement and References.

Abstract

The abstract should not be more than 200 words typed single-line spacing and Italicized. It should have specific objectives, methodology and summary of the research findings. Four to five Key words should be written after the abstract.

Main text

1. Introduction

   The text here The text here should be related to topic with general overview justifying the research work with specific objectives. The article should be written in United Kingdom English language. All texts should be free from colloquial words like etcetera; etc and so on and so forth, wouldn’t, shouldn’t, haven’t, but be written instead in full form like would not, should not, have not respectively. State everything in full. Scientific names should be italicized. Use of pronouns must be avoided; instead reported speech should be used e.g. Instead of writing: I sampled using random sampling method; write: random sampling method was used for the study. Similarly avoid writing, It is my opinion, It is our opinion, instead write: it is the opinion of the author(s) that...

   Do write the name of cooperate bodies in full with the names abbreviated in brackets before subsequently using abbreviated forms alone e g. Ibrahim Badamasi Babangida University (IBBU), World Health Organization (WHO) Block paragraphing style should be used leaving one extra line between paragraphs.

2. Materials and Methods

   Article should contain a description of methods and procedures used, making reference to the modifications made to the methods.

3. Results and Discussion

   Results should be presented in tables based on latest the 6thAmerican Psychological Association (APA)style

Tables, Figures and Plates

Tables should be numbered with Arabic numerals with its content centralized and title of the table bolded and written on top of the table as Table 2.1, 2.2. Figures should be numbered using Arabic numerals eg. Figure 1.1, Figure 2.2 not fig 1.1, fig 2.2. Photographs as plates should be numbered using roman numerals eg. Plate I, II, III, IV. The title of the figures and plates should be below and centralized.

Numbers and Dates

Numbers under 10 should be written in words except if it denotes units of measurement. Comma should be inserted in numerals over 1,000 or space out. Use ‘first’, ‘second’ ‘Third’ not 1st 2nd 3rd . Date should take the form 09th April, 2015 and decades be written as 1990s without apostrophe. Units of measurement should spelt out when appearing in the text alone and metric units should be used.

References

APA 6th edition should be used.
