Gymnarchus niloticus, gut content, total-intestine length, ratio

Abstract

A total of 36 fish samples were examined between January and December for their intestine length 2018.Total- intestine length relationship showed high significant difference (p 0<.001). Mean (±SD) total length of fish samples were between 135.00±9.85 and 70.00±38.94, intestine length 118.33±5.86 and 60.83±39.03 and total length to intestine ratio 1.28±0.07 and 1.12±0.01 respectively. The ratio of total- intestine length positioned the fish as a carnivore and this was further confirmed by food items being partially digested fish, fish skeleton and detritus
